Andy is really something else. He has been the easiest baby (minus the "I'm a 10 pounder in the NICU because I like to eat more than breathe" episode in the hospital). He is a good eater, a good sleeper, and generally just goes with the flow. He thinks he is as big as his older brother and sister and amazes me at how well he keeps up with them.
The kid loves to eat. You would think he would be off the charts weight wise...must be nice to have that metabolism. He will climb into his chair while I am still cooking (no comments). First to the table...last to finish. He will try (and like) just about anything. He is a champ at feeding himself...such a big boy.
Because of his desire to be "big" he transitioned himself off the bottle too. He wanted a big boy sippy cup like P and C had. I suppose I was the one hanging on to the bottle...it was so easy...and such a crowd pleaser. The pacifier (or pa-pa around these parts) is a whole different story. He may tote that thing with him in his backpack on the first day of school.
He loves giving hugs...and gives the best hugs ever. But then 10 seconds later loves to tell me "No!" with that finger pointing and a scowl on his face. (I wonder where that scowl comes from...ha.) He is such a talker...I am amazed at how well he communicates with us and his vocabulary seems to grow daily. Today he had his 18 month well visit and was showing off his vocabulary to Dr. H. Even I was impressed. He got the once over and minus the infected toe nail (b/c his momma was too lazy and pregnant to walk up stairs to clip a little baby hang nail so she gently "ripped" it off and now it is so infected the poor baby is on an antibiotic damn I feel guilty) he is doing great. I wouldn't say growing like a weed, but growing.
Andy's 18 month stats:
Weight: 25 lbs 1 oz (37%)
Height: 32 inches (38%)
Head: 50 1/2 cm (97%)
Clothes: Mostly 12-18m
Maybe one day his body will catch up to his brains. :)
I don't think Andy knows what is about to happen with the birth of his little brother just around the corner. Andy is the baby. No, he has never had my undivided attention, but he has always been the baby. I am afraid he might not like this new arrangement we have headed this way in 1 short month. However, he is such a loving, go-with-the-flow kind of kid that I'm sure he will enjoy being a big brother too. Fingers crossed.
My heart swells when I look at his sweet little face and his

He is adorable!! What a cutie pie!
ReplyDeleteBrought tears to my eyes. I had those exact feelings just before I had the twins. So nervous of how Molly would (or, would not in our case at first) adjust and I felt like I was shorting her of her only child-dom by having another (or two) so close in age. In the end, you'd never change it, though. And, once you meet this nameless little one you have been toting around, you will know in a milli-second that everything is just as it should be and everything will be just fine. Love you bunches...
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to have found your new "home" here and to see such a sweet update on Andy. What a cutie pie! I'm so happy that he's an easy baby for you...you most certainly need it with 2 others! Merry Christmas!
