The Babe and I exchanged text messages early Monday morning about what a good {family} day we had...just us and the kiddos out on a Sunday drive. {That is until Little Miss C had a royal meltdown at the end of the day...that girl knows how to throw a fit let me tell you.}
We decided to set out to find our new home and neighborhood...we are always taking about when and where we will go when we make the move and that time is approaching faster than we ever imagined. We absolutely love our house, but we are quickly outgrowing it. If we could just pick it up and plop it down in a better school district we would do it in a heartbeat...with maybe an addition and a finished basement. But, we can't...so off we went to find a few of the houses I have been stalking on realtor.com. We ruled out a few, liked a few, but never made it over to get a look at the "dream" home.
I don't know what it is but we are drawn to houses that need a little freshening up. We remodeled our current house and while it was somewhat of a nightmare living through {and in} a renovation it is so rewarding to see the fruits of your labor.
With that being said...my "dream" house is under a contingent contract. It isn't much of a looker now, but I look at it every night imagining the new paint job and the new front porch and columns I would add. I imagine a new red front door and new navy shutters. I want to turn it into the house on the intro to Flip This House.

| Swoon. Love this house. |
I imagine spending hot summer nights hanging out in the screened-in side porch with the fan going and a glass of sweet iced tea in hand. I imagine knocking out a wall and opening up the formal dining room to the kitchen...seriously...who really uses a formal dining room these days? I imagine the kids playing in the huge yard...and perhaps even Poppie and Gigi downsizing to a house they build on the lot for sale next door. But...it's under contract. The Babe says the right house will appear at the right time...but I secretly hope that the contract will fall through and this house will still be available a year from now...maybe even two.
But...it's fun to dream and imagine. Even more fun to drive around town dreaming and imagining with the Babe by my side and our sweet little kiddos in the rear view.
Love those ordinarily special moments.
